Notes
"The Dark Side Of The Moon" is the eighth studio LP to be released by Pink Floyd. It was recorded at Abbey Road Studios in London, England and released in 1973. It stands as one of the most successful commercial recordings of all time, and has been released in many countries. In the U.S., the album has spent more time on the Billboard 200 album chart than any other release in modern history.
Early releases included two posters and two color stickers inside the gatefold sleeve, all designed by the U.K. graphics and design company Hipgnosis.
The most sought-after and valuable version of DSOTM is the original U.K. Harvest issue (The Dark Side Of The Moon), identifiable with a solid blue prism on the labels instead of the shaded triangle used on most other versions.
On September 11, 2020 the MR first reached the threshold of 1000 different versions and is currently hovering around that number, making it one of the most populated MRs in the entire database. Most of the vinyl versions were issued with gatefold sleeves. However, there are several versions with significant differences in packaging and design, such as this version: The Dark Side Of The Moon from the Philippines which has the artist's name and LP title printed in large text on a non-gatefold sleeve. New and previously undocumented versions of DSOTM get added to the database frequently making it one of the most interesting titles to focus on for "deep collectors".
Performed by:
Richard Wright – organ (Hammond and Farfisa), piano, electric piano (Wurlitzer, Rhodes), EMS VCS 3, Synthi AKS, vocals
Snippets of speech attributed by Nick Mason ("Inside Out - A Personal History of Pink Floyd") to:
- Henry McCullough - guitarist with Paul McCartney: "I don't know, I was really drunk at the time."
- Gerry O'Driscoll - Abbey Road doorman: "There is no dark side of the moon. Matter of fact, it's all dark."

Soy de Argentina. Esta es la mejor compra que jamás pude haber hecho. Tengo miedo que en cualquier momento la cinta se me parta a la mitad de tanto que lo escuché.

How is something "partially unofficial?" Sounds BS to me. Words. -

There are some cracks and pops, but it sounds well balanced and dynamic for my taste. Graphic material is amazing. -

if anybody has a spare of the posters and stickers then DM me… my recent purchase from a record shop of this press didn’t come with them:(

FYI: When engaged in small talk, always fit collecting records into the conversation. Was talking to some guy at my son's soccer game. He says: "I've got some records in the garage, you're welcome to them if you want." I told him I'd take him up on it and went over expecting a bunch of Perry Como and Lawrence Welk, as that is what usually happens. Not this day. 2nd record in the dusty milk crate was this Mofi Dark Side - shining like a new dime and looking UNPLAYED and did I mention it was free? THANK YOU VERY MUCH! :)

I bought this used in the late '80s without realizing is was an ideal CD version. But it really does sound fantastic on a good "vintage" dedicated CD player.

It took two purchases of this to get a good copy. The first purchase and pressing had groove distortion which affected side 1 - by the time "The Great Gig In The Sky" was under the stylus, the crackles in Clare Torry's vocalization were near obscene. Second purchase was fine, and seemed to represent what Bernie Grundman was going for in the lacquer cut.

This is probably the best treasure chest I’ve ever found in my journey of searching for audiophile gold, I got a VG copy for $30 at reckless Chicago. This is a phenomenal pressing, but this is a lot of damn money. If you have the money to buy this pressing, then you might as will save up to buy a better pressing in general. This is a phenomenal pressing but for the cost there are better ones out there.
Compared to the 50th anniversary pressing this is so much better. But the 50th is very clean. -

My copy is flat and sounds great to me, although I don't have any other versions of this on vinyl to compare with.
