The edit on here is unique to this and the Rainbo promo, I believe. It is the same as the album version, but removes 10 seconds from the intro and 10 seconds from the "Do, do you love me" break, and fades out just a few seconds early. Total duration is just under 3:47 (stated as 3:50 on the labels). -
Edited 7 years agoPaula completely re-recorded the vocals for the 12" mixes...I think this is the first time I've heard of an artist doing that.

I'm guessing Cold Hearted wasn't originally intended to be released as a single in Canada, which is most likely why it's a B-side on here.
I having this record before Cold Hearted came out...saw the video and wanted the song big time, then I realized gleefully that I already *had* it on the Straight Up B-side!!! :D -

The house mix by Saunderson gives Abdul's hit ditty the typical tailoring. I'm glad to see Abdul on American Idol giving advice on music. The other mixes are all rather the same sort of altercating the original so as not to hurt it. Abdul's lyrics are great and the song is probably difficult to turn into a bad remix. The sounds used are so revealing of the 90's that it is almost nostalgic. I wonder why only Saunderson (of notable Detroitian or house fame) has notable mixes of Abdul's best song.
