De-Lite Records was founded in 1967, by Fred Vigorito, Fred Fioto and Ted Simonetti. It became prominent in Disco, Soul and R&B music.
One of their first gs was Kool & The Gang became the most successful act for the De-Lite label, scoring many hit singles and albums.
In the 1970s, Pickwick International took over distribution of the label and by 1975, disco pioneers, Kool & The Gang.
In 1985, De-Lite was absorbed into PolyGram sub-label, Mercury Records. By 1998, Polygram merged with Universal Music Group and their subsidiary, Island Def Jam Music Group, took over management of the De-Lite catalogue.
