Edited 2 months agoSo many great tunes came out from this quality label. I especially love the work by the likes of Larry Heard and Glenn Underground.

What a fantastic label. I will never sell my Guidance collection. Driving hard house and techno house ala Chi town. Special label. I am sad to read about Spencer. I hope things are looking up.

Edited 4 years agofavorite House Music Label. Glenn Underground was ground breaking in genre infusions.

Edited 5 years agoDon´t know who sits on the rights, but there is never any represses of Guidance releases. Spencer is living somewhere in the streets and the other two i don´t know. (Not sure if Spencer was part of setting up this label??)

Edited 6 years agoThis is just an incredible Chicago label that I will forever associate with top-notch late 90's house.
It's also interesting that considering the sheer quality of the releases it has been somewhat immune to the sometimes excessive hype and subsequent high prices that plague other labels.
Maybe this is because not too many ueber-hip-boiler-room-big-shot Djs play this stuff.
Too many fantastic releases to mention. -
Edited 18 years agoInspired by a new wave of producers who were successfully expanding
upon the Chicago house music blueprint by adding state of the art
production techniques and a cosmopolitan edge to art form, Guidance
embraced the emerging globalization of electronic music culture by
assembling a diverse and talented roster of artists from across
Europe, the UK, and North America. The label released its first two
singles, Free Energy "Happiness" and Projekt: PM's vocoded house
classic "When the Voices Come" in May 1996, and haven't looked back
since. It followed with a string of timeless twelve inches that
helped launched the careers of house music legends such as: Austin
"Abacus" Bascom, Deep Sensation, Blueboy, Fresh and Low, Kevin
Yost, and Chicago's very own Glenn Underground, prompting Muzik
Magazine to proclaim Guidance "the best new house label in the
world" in its 1997 year end issue.

Excellent Chicago area deep house label that has been around forever and is still in business releasing quality material. The quality is generally high, and quite consistent. Many noted house artists have at least one release on Guidance.
If you like it deep and see a Guidance release at the record store, give it a listen... you won't regret it!
