MPO Ireland

MPO Ireland refers a CD/DVD manufacturing plant in Blanchardstown, Dublin which was officially opened in June 1997 as a subsidiary of French MPO International. The plant was involved in mastering, replication, and packaging of CDs and CD-ROMs when it opened, and of DVDs from 1998 onward.

Effective August 2006, parent company MPO International went into an agreement with Zomax (see Zomax/MPO), and was 51% owned by Zomax and 49% owned by MPO. In early March 2007, Zomax announced the immediate closure of the facility.

1) Early CDs manufactured at this plant may carry mastering SID codes IFPI L032 or L033, in combination with one or more @ symbols in the matrix. These are MPO, and MPO Ireland credited with Pressed By or Made By as suggested below.
2) Early CDs manufactured at this plant may carry mould SID codes associated with other MPO plants (e.g. IFPI 12**, IFPI 13**). This could be because machinery from those other plants was transferred to Ireland and still operated with those mould SID codes, or because some overflow replication work was outsourced from Ireland to those locations to meet demand. MPO Ireland should never be credited based on the appearance of these SID codes unless it is specifically named in the matrix.
