Capricorn Classics

Profile:

The Capricorn label was home to the largest, most eclectic and commercially popular collection of Southern bands throughout the 1970s. Not all of the acts on the label's roster were Southern (such as 311 and Captain Beyond). But enough were to get the label tagged as the foremost crusader for roots music that combined the rawer aspects of blues, country, rock, jazz, and gospel created below the Mason-Dixon line.

This Series was primarily issued in 1997-1998 while the label was distributed by Universal Music Group), and focused on some of the best known Capricorn releases of the 1970s.
