Audio Arts

Profile:

Audio Arts Cassettes was a British sound magazine documenting contemporary artistic activity via artist or curator interviews, sound performances or sound art by artists. From 1973 to 2006, Audio Arts published 25 volumes of 4 issues of the Audio Arts Cassettes (later releasing LPs and CDs as well).

The first few releases featured their first address on the covers and had ISPO AUDIO ARTS label stickers. Some copies that were sold after their address (and legal?) change featured stickered new addresses over the previous address.

The label kept their back cata stock as long as they had still covers (and demand). Sometimes covers were reprinted and marked "Second Edition" with new copyright dates. Some copies were sold with photocopied covers, if they ran out of printed ones.

Most cassettes feature generic white label stickers with grey lower part featuring "AUDIO ARTS and a little box with copyright details. These come rubberstamped with the contents on the upper part of the labels. The copyright year listed on the labels indicate when the cassette was manufactured (sometimes years after the initial release).
