Cenobite! Why not to release the old vinyls again? Why only digital? We all know those vinyls would all be sold out the next day... for the sake of real DJs, do a reissue of the early cenobite vinyls, I beg you! We do not want to buy a crackling used vinyl for 50 euro... its good to place on shelf but thats it. Keep the music alive like Spiral Tribe and many others did and make a repress. Fuck the vinyl price inflation, vinyl is back (Id say it never was gone, but from a business side of things, its back)... so make cenobite records come back too! Rise the hell one more time!!!
take it in consideration cenobite! ;) -
Brilliant label ! So many great releases, its so hard to pick a favourite. Liberate-me is a close contender !

Edited 14 years agoSimply, the best hardcore label!! Dark melodies, acid sequences, hard bassdrums, incredible drum n bass rithms and an insane speed... are the elements that defines the one and unimitable Cenobite style. Every reference in the label have an excellent work in production and pump up the hardcore to the maximum quality.
Really a nice work from the man behind the label, Michel Klaasen aka Leviathan/Tellurian, in all of his productions and in his work as A&R.
Simply, turn the volume up and put your hands up for the Cenobite trancecore!! -
Cenobite Records. Probably one of the best, if not the best hardcore trance label there is available. Many labels have good and bad tracks, but not Cenobite Records.
At the moment I only have about half of the label, but I know every track, and there isn't a bad one among them.
A style on their own, pure quality and having lack of quantity of releases, shows he height of the label.
Definitely in my top 3 labels. -
Edited 18 years agoCenobite is easily one of the best hardcore labels ever created, it would be in my top 3 favourite labels. The sounds that Michel Klassen (and the highly underrated Rodney Balai) created were simply brilliant, coupled with the cool Hellraiser samples. I always felt that with Cenobite it was "quality over quantity", hence the small number of releases, but every release was awesome, with the exception of some of those odd tracks on The Revelation, but that's my opinion. My favourite track was The Wish, one of the best tracks ever made. Myself and many others were very happy when the new Leviathan record came out, a welcome relief compared to the generic hardcore being pumped out. I hope the label continues, Da Predator told me he had some tracks ready for the next release, hopefully this will happen sometime soon.

Edited 19 years agoWhen it comes to older hardcore labels cenobite is certainly in my top 3. Unique in it's style i can't think of any other labels like this one. Using the combination of trancy melodies but the pace and kicks of hardcore they had their own thing. Being such a different label probably didn't expand their lifespan.
It's a shame that they were out of business for such a long time but after Hellraiser went out of business they tried to start something up with ID&T. Shortly after that ID&T decided to stop all their hardcore d operations and that totally put them out of business.
The thing with a label like this is that no mather how much it is loved by a fair bit of the crowd it doesn't fit in with most dj's style and therefor won't get played as much as it should.
Maybe that's a shame but on the other side it gives you that little bit extra excitement when you actually hear one of the tracks on a party.
Following the big revival of (older) hardcore this label also returned this year with a release by leviathan. And allthough the release was completely in the line of the older releases i don't think it had the same vibe and impact as the older ones, or maybe that is just me.
The word is that more releases should be on their way, but i've heared that for the last five years....so i'm not that sure about it.

This label started back in 1996 with a unique sound of Hardtrance and hiphop in all their releases. It is so that they have not released as many records because not everone could make the sound of the cenobyte style. It is hard to create suchs difficult tracks ,but for the Cenobite crew it is important that you could buy blind a record of Cenobite records.Quality is their first option. The legendary Hellraiser movies are sucked dry to use the samples of pinhead wich are used as base for a lot of tracks they created for this CENOBITE label.
