Brooklyn DJ Veronica Vasicka has been reissuing obscure early 1980s DIY synth records on her own Minimal Wave label since 2005.
The term Minimal Wave seems to categorizes minimal synth with the elements of analog synths, drum machines and vocals which use home recording technologies that were just starting to become available in the early ‘80s.
Minimal Wave have released some truly exceptional albums and compilations over the past five years. Most of the groups included on the Minimal Wave label haven’t had much exposure outside of their own self-released LPs and cassettes which would have been released in very limited quantities at the time of their original release.
Alot of time and effort goes into each release which includes the remastering , most records are pressed on 180 gram vinyl and housed in a heavy matte jacket some include coloured Vinyl, printed innersleeves (with old photos and press info).
Minimal Wave is an exceptional label which offers excellent well balanced quality releases and is a halfway house between a label like Vinyl-on-demand which can go into far greater general detail often with exclusive bonus tracks and unpublished extras with some of their limited edition and exclusive subscription hip releases.
