Too much treble boost on these reissues. More treble is not equivalent to audiophile. "Rhino High Fidelity" - what a joke!

Why press great quality records and make them so friggen hard to get the prices balloon to over $200 almost immediately. Absolutely madness. I’ll not pay a cent more than $30 for any of these releases.

They're putting out great titles but I'm not a fan of the mastering style they're having Kevin Gray do. It seems to be a slight bass reduction and a slight treble boost. Just listen to the Rhino HiFi of "The Captain and Me" and compare it to the Kevin Gray cut from a few years ago for Speakers Corner. That cut sounds much more natural like Kevin's other work.

Although this series is something to really look forward to, from the Warner and Atlantic catalog, some of their initial choices are perplexing. Given the number of Van Morrison albums they had under Warner Bros, they choose 'His Band And The Street Choir', one of his weaker efforts . Why not 'St Dominic's Preview', or 'Veedon Fleece', 'Into the Music' or even 'Wavelength' all of which are better albums. for example. Their Jazz offering so far seen more spot on ('Coltrane's Sound' and Pastorious's 'Word of Mouth' for example which sounds great) but even here, Herbie Hancock's Crossings as their 2nd Jazz offering? On the positives- great mastering, heavy stock glossy covers, heavyweight vinyl- I also like their record label design- and sleeve notes with photographs of the master tapes etc People will probably have a wish list as long as their arms for this series- I wonder if Rhino still have the rights to the Modern Lovers debut LP? That would top my list!

PS- 2nd on my list would have been Television's Marquee Moon but within days on me typing my first comment this has becomes a wish come true- as Rhino have it for a January 2024 release! Can't wait. My 3rd wish would have been for Love's 'Forever Changes'- yes ut been reissued many times of late, but as we know the recent audiophile releases (Mofi etc) had a digital step. I can't be the only one wanting an all AAA Kevin Gray Audiophile master at an affordable price spinning at 33 and 1/3. Come on Rhino- don't be shy of being predictable on this one!
