Founded in 1875 in New York City by brothers Thomas B. Harms and Alexander T. Harms under the name T. B. Harms & Co., this company became one of the largest publishers of popular music in the Unites States. In 1908, it merged with British firm Francis, Day, & Hunter and became T. B. Harms & Francis, Day & Hunter, Inc. In 1921, it changed its name to Harms, Inc.
