The Blue Note Re-Issue Series

Profile:

A mid 70s jazz series focussed on reissuing "classic performances in a continuing series of 2-record sets, complete with written perspectives by the most respected and knowledgeable authorities in jazz." The first batch of releases have abstract, colorful rasterized artwork, but the ensuing ones sport characteristic designs of creamy colored gatefolds with front sleeves carrying bold lettering of main artist's name combined with a large b/w picture. The series is directed by Charlie Lourie.
Note: Carrying identical design, but consisting of simple sleeve 1 vinyl releases, French Blue Note issued several more albums. The French series is realized by Gilles Gautherin.
