Records cut at this studio may be identified by M, Mcl, McL, McCl, McCLEAR, MW, or MCW in the runouts. For a short period (up until ca. 1982) etches normally associated with RCA Studios, Toronto continued to appear in runouts (TG, GT, TXG, TXD, TD, XT, ZDT, TX, DT, etc.).

Engineers associated with this facility include: Bob Richards (6).

Some runouts have "didge" etched into them. This is likely not an engineer's signature mark but rather an indication that the source material provided to McClear Place was a digital recording.

The name stems from a block of land that was originally owned by bookseller Thomas McClear in 1875, resulting in the laneway beside the building being named after him.
