British pop music magazine, launched 1978, which issued numerous cover-mounted flexi-discs and (later) cassettes. During the 1980s British synth-pop boom it was the biggest-selling music publication in the UK and was responsible for giving early mainstream exposure to bands such as Depeche Mode, The Human League and Eurythmics.
