Does there anyone reading this either collect Elvis releases from Czech or have any knowledge on them.

    I know of these:

    9113 0625 PURE GOLD
    9116 0945 PROMISED LAND
111746-1 301 ELVIS PRESLEY CHRISTMAS ALBUM

The first two LP's (especially PURE GOLD) had many different color labels. I need information on the years each came out etc.

I am doing a WORLDWIDE ELVIS RCA VINYL DISCOGRAPHY series of books on everything that 63 countries issued on Elvis and need help with this country

    Thanks

    Hi Paul,
I have only Pure Gold in my collection, in my case this exact release: Elvis Presley - Pure Gold. You can easily distinguish them (and exact release date) by "manufacturing date code", which is present on almost all czechoslovak vinyl releases: it is located under (p) YYYY on the left side of the A-side label. In my case the manufacturing code is "81 2", which means a February 1981 press.

    Best regards,
    Karel

    Hi Karel

Many many thanks for that information!! I suspected that those numbers "81 2" etc meant what you said but wasn't 100% sure.

I have scans of 7 or maybe 8 different color labels of this LP.

Plus I have two pressings that say "RCA ITALIANA"

Do you collect Elvis? If so and you'd like to see the CZECH pdf I'm almost finished doing just e mail me ok.

Again many thanks for the information.

    Paul

this is not true. as they were using only numbers 1 and 2, it indicates part of year. in this case it means this record was pressed in the second half of 1981

Oh ok. Thanks for this information. DO you collect Elvis?

Thanks. I just got loads of information on all of Elvis' CZECH releases from a friend in POLAND. Actually I had maybe 60 or 70% of it but this guy really added a lot to it!!

If anyone wants to e mail me my e mail is above!

    Exactly.
It means that it was pressed between July and December 1981.
As opposed to "81 1" which would have been a pressing between January and June 1981.

    many different color labels

As far as Supraphon: they had certain "color codes" for genres at times, albeit also not 100%.)

For what it's worth, I used to have Pure Gold for sale a while back. The back cover photo – made with my MacBook's crappy webcam – and the labels scans come from that copy:

There were at least FOUR different pressings of this LP with different color labels although technically there were FIVE because two different color BLUE labels were used. Plus the light green version also mentioned "RCA ITALIANA". There could have been more than this

Different paper color of labels counts as a "unique release" on Discogs. So all combinations of colors and date codes can be cataloged here.

As a side note, who was the Czech Elvis Presley? (vide Wojciech Gąssowski - Love Me Tender)

Ahhh.. every country got at least one. A book about those records may have been more interesting than an Elvis discography.

    Karel Zich

Bah, Zich… a cheap Elvis epigone.

The real pioneer and king of Czech rock'n'roll was Miki Volek!

But he was a rebel so the communist Supraphon deliberately ignored him.
