Maybe it would be helpful if we had an own topic where you can post your requests. Because when I post something in submission notes or in the help forum it can take a long time before getting any response. Hope it will be a little bit quicker here.
So I will start ;)

Shouldn't be Tymon the PAN or better Tymon Balakirev an alias, since his real name is only used for credits? -

Shouldn't be Tymon the PAN or better Tymon Balakirev an alias, since his real name is only used for credits?
Should be an alias:
2.5.3. ANVs should not be used if the artist uses the name to differentiate their work, in this case an Alias is more appropriate.
Tymon - hardcore artist
Tymon Balakirev - writting credits
Unfortunately it needs a lot of work to split it now. (on the other hand, dont think its really a big problem) -

I'd go for alias too. Maybe we should post a proposal on one of the main help forums or here?
P.S.1: It should be Tymon (3) than since the others are already used)

Nice initiative this thread :)
Something I'd like to edit is DJ Skinhead. And this one was compiled by Lenny himself so it's probably not just a random mistake.
IMHO the best thing to do would be to just enter the artist as on release everywhere and put notes to indicate the other artist names that were used for the track. What do you think about it? -
Show this post

Something I'd like to edit is Fuckin Hostile. This artist name has been used for all appearances of the same named track.
In my opinion Fuckin Hostile is just a title of the track and name of vinyl (all compilations clearly list it). NOT artist.
Only its not listed on the cover as Lenny Dee ........ Fuckin Hostile. In my opinion best is to close Fuckin Hostile as artist profile.
-
Show this post
Except, when you look at the label, it has FUCKIN HOSTILE in big letters, then the tracks listed below it...and other IS releases which have labels with the same art, the name in big letters at the top is the artist name. To me that suggests that's what the artist is. And it's the same on the repress with the new track - so if it was a mistake originally, why make it again? -
Show this post
Initially I also felt Fuckin Hostile wasn't meant as an artist name, until I noticed the consistency of IS releases artworks at the time. Also the Super Special Corp remix release only has Fucking Hostile listed.
IMHO it is quite ambiguous whether or not Fuckin Hostile is meant as an artist name on these releases, but in the absence of another prominent artist name it is the closest match, so it should be kept as artist name for the vinyl releases.
Do you agree about reverting artists as on release on compilations? -

Negative-A & Counterfeit (4) can be merged. Think using Negative-A & Counterfeit make no sense since there is always the ANV use. So I'll use Negative A & Counterfeit for group name. -

indeed, the dash in Negative-A was only used in his very first releases AFAIR, so using it in the group name wouldn't make any sense. -

I guess you just didn't clear R. Sowa's profile before making your changes? You should just use the Discogs Dummy Release to temporarily re-create this entry, then entirely clear its profile including the Alias and In Groups sections, then revert your changes to the dummy release. -

Fuckin Hostile is done, now here's another artist issue I'd like to tackle.
It is about Kill Your Mother E.P. - The Sound Of Hate ! where it's not obvious what is the artist name and the release title.
Initially "Kill Your Mother" was entered as artist name and "The Sound Of Hate !" as release title. A couple of years ago someone almost reversed it, i.e. used "The Sound Of Hate !" as artist name and "Kill Your Mother E.P." as release title.
I'd like to return to a solution closer to the initial submission: "Kill Your Mother" as artist title and "Kill Your Mother E.P. - The Sound Of Hate !" as release title (in order to not omit the "E.P." part).
I think it's more likely that "Kill Your Mother" is meant as the artist name because amongst the 7 compilations featuring a track from this EP, 6 of them use it as artist name. The seventh one (Cluster Fuck) has no tracklisting picture so it's hard to be sure of what artist name was used (if there's a tracklisting at all).
Also William Jordens seems to acknowledge "Kill Your Mother" as artist name here:
http://soundcloud.com/ambulantjongerenwerker/abraxas-vs-jordens-ill
"Originally came out under the title "Kill your mother - Ill Behaviour (Starbanger Remix)"
Jordens remixed this track for Abraxas (AFAIK this is the version that appeared on the EP and the original version wasn't released), so he certainly has inside knowledge about this issue.
Does this change look alright to you? -
Show this post
Yeah I agree. Kill Your Mother is an artist name.
May be you can ask directly William on soundcloud or facebook:
http://www.facebook.com/pages/William-Dj-Jordens-aka-Kit-Williams-aka-DJ-The-Rapist-aka-Starbanger/304923569542266?sk=wall&filter=12

I could but honestly I don't think this is even necessary, the above quote is clear enough IMO. If nobody's against it I'll probably edit this in the few next days.
Also I've started a topic in the help forums about an artist name issue that often appeared on early thunderdome releases: http://discogs.cinepelis.org/help/forums/topic/363696 . I'd like to have some from you fellows :) -

Does anyone knows where the rumour/decision was made that hrdtunes (and apparantely all other webshops like juno and trackitdown and others) have the megarave cat#'s listed incorrectly (= 10 numbers off)?
for instance this release: http://discogs.cinepelis.org/Destructive-Tendencies-This-Is-Your-Moment-EP/release/4069916 is listed here as number 163, where numerous webshops list it as number 173
http://www.hardtunes.com/albums/destructive-tendencies-this-is-your-moment/1650
http://www.juno.com/products/destructive-tendencies-this-is-your-moment/2106726-02/
http://www.trackitdown.net/track/destructive-tendencies/taken-from-me-original-mix/hardcore/5216728.html
I think it's because it would create a gap in the cat# somewhere, but tbh, catatalog numbering of labels never made much sense ;-)
If no reliable source is know, is it OK to change them to what's used on hardtunes, juno and others?
-

I wrote an email about this to their but my mail was blocked by their server. Maybe someone else could try it or write a mail directly to megarave? -

Brisk shouldn't be primary, DJ Brisk should. The majority of his releases are DJ Brisk plus his websites and official soundcloud list him as DJ Brisk. -
Show this post
The PAN has a little more entries than the DJ Brisk ANV in the "releases" category (albums+singles+DJ Mixes+misc). Assuming ANVs are correctly set on most of these, IMHO that makes the superiority of one variation over another not clear enough for such a quite massive PAN move.
for the megarave cat# issue above: it looks like the numbers are documented consistently enough and on a large number of releases to be confident it's a voluntary design, although the reason seems obscure. I'd say enter cat# as on releases and put a note on label profile. -

Regardless, the way the artist appears on his own official sites is DJ Brisk. I don't think there is a big enough difference to keep the PAN as Brisk instead of what the artist himself goes by. -

Unfortunately somebody make a mistake on Hardtunes. OK 10 catalogs are out. I think we can live a a gap in catalogs. Better than correct each release for next 5 years. I understand to repair 1 catalog when there is a page problem, but this is not this case.
I think best is to use what is on the Juno or Hardtunes page. Leave 10 empty catalogs. Because now its pretty confused for newbies -

Except that's also his site as a DJ, has loads of his old sets on it... So he could be DJ Brisk as a DJ, Brisk as an artist.
But frankly I think that sort of change is surely more about pedantry than accuracy. -

Some volunteers for a Negative A update? Negative A as PAN and Negative-A as ANV. I know there are some hundreds of edits to be done but with 2 or 3 editiors/voters it should be done quickly. -
Show this post
Afreed, based on guideline 2.5.6. The Primary Artist Name should be the most relevant version of the Artists Name. For example, when the artist has a "recording name" it should be the Primary name, and the variations found in the releases fine print should be the ANV.
And willing to volunteer :-)

OK here we go than :-) . Make sure you don't create false ANV's, not every release where Negative-A is listed now deserves a ANV in the new case. If in doubt (= no images available) just don't add an ANV at all. -

that hip hop Evidence act is totally unrelated, clearly a mistake, and why do you make a second Miro Pajic out of it I dont understand
-
Show this post
Evidence. I'm removing it. -
Show this post
Actually it seems to be more complicated than that, because on the album I linked above, Miroslav Pajic is credited for the writing of a track where Evidence (2) is featured. However, the real name of this Hip Hop Evidence is Michael Perretta, and on this picture of the LP version you can see the publisher associated to "Miroslav Pajic" is "M. Perretta Music".
So I think the writing credit on this release actually went erroneously to Miroslav Pajic instead of Michael Perretta because of the confusion between both Evidence projects. If that's correct, Miroslav Pajic should be unlinked and Michael Perretta should be linked [uncredited]. Seems OK to you? -

Any objections against moving the ANV of Claudio Lancinhouse on the Claudio Lancini page to the of DJ Lancinhouse? so all releases on this ANV here: http://discogs.cinepelis.org/artist/Claudio+Lancini?filter_anv=1&anv=Claudio+Lancinhouse#t=Releases_All&q=&p=1 moved to DJ Lancinhouse IMO, the "split" should be between the last name Lancini or Lancinhouse. -

Borderline case IMO, I think both ways would be correct, but indeed guidelines and forum threads tend to put an emphasis on the last name, so it would tend towards the change you propose. -
