سميح القاسم

Samih al-Qasem is a Palestinian poet. He was born in 1939 in the Galilee. He was held under house arrest and imprisoned repeatedly because of his activism. He worked as an editor in the Ghad and Ittihad Newspapers. He has published numerous poetry collections, some of them have been translated into English, and some of his nationalistic poems have been put to music. He is the editor in chief of the Israeli Arab newspaper Koull El Arab.

His name can also be transliterated as Samih Alkassim, Samih Al Kassim, Samih Al-Qasim, Samih A-Kacem, Samih Al Kacem, Samih Al Qasim and Sameeh Al Qassem.
