Son of Turkish Ambassador to the US, Munir Ertegun, and brother of Ahmet Ertegun.
He worked for WEA International Inc. in 1970.
Editor at Record Changer magazine and first to be appointed to teach in a history of Jazz course
for academic credit at a major US university, at UCLA in 1952.
Inducted posthumously into Rock And Roll Hall of Fame in 1991 (Lifetime Achievement).
