Walter Solek

Died April 1, 2005 (aged 94) in Meriden, Connecticut, USA.
Solek introduced English-language lyrics into polka music in the United States. Solek was known as the "Clown Prince of Polka" and "The Singing Drummer".
Solek charted as a songwriter in the U.S. with the song "Who Stole the Kishka?" (originally spelled Keeshka) by the Matys Brothers in 1963 (it hit #55, co-written by Walter Dana). The song has been a popular party tune since it was recorded in the 1950s with English lyrics.
