Notes
First press variation.
Apple logo is misaligned with the rest of the text on back sleeve. "Her Majesty" is included on label side B.
Fully laminated sleeve.
In this misaligned edition, the entire image of the back sleeve including the Apple logo, but without the text, has been enlarged slightly from the top left-hand corner. "ABBEY ROAD" now almost borders the edge of the cover and is also larger. The text, however, is still the same size and in the same position.
The same procedure was done with the front of the cover. However, the image was enlarged from the top right corner.
Different than this pressing, another first pressing misprint variation: The apple logo is misaligned with the rest of the text but "Her Majesty" is missing on the label.
B5 appears as "Mean Mr Mustard" on cover, but as "Mean Mr. Mustard" on label.
℗ 1969

An E.M.I. recording. Thanks to George Martin, Geoff Emerick and Phillip McDonald

My copy matches all criterias but it's seems I've got a non listed runout variant :
Side A : YEX 749-2 PD0
Side B : YEX 750-1 UTL
May I've missed something ? -
Managed to find one of these dirt cheap recently and it did not disappoint. The laminated cover looks great, but the disc really surprised me. Its seen better days and its previous owner must've enjoyed it, as its got quite a few marks on it. Apart from some pretty frequent clicks it maintains its fidelity amazingly and still sounds great. I've got an early 70s US pressing in better condition than this and I still prefer the UK. Glad to say this one lives up to hype imo

Edited one year agoRecently acquired a copy of this and yes, it does justify the praise heaped upon it. Nice, warm and cut from the master tape when it was newly minted and still fresh. It's always a lottery buying a second-hand copy. No matter how good it may look on the surface, there could still be significant groove wear that won't become apparent until you play it. Thankfully, it holds up well, some sibilance on Side 2 but other than that pretty clean sounding.
Abbey Road is known for being difficult to master and has caused various engineers headaches over the years (even when remastering for the 1987 CD, it caused problems). The biggest challenge is of course the last track on Side 1, 'I Want You (She's So Heavy)'. A monumental track and that sludgy repetitive multi-tracked guitar riff may be the first doom metal riff ever created. (Black Sabbath were all fans of the band so not as ridiculous as it sounds) The growing white noise distortion is a real challenge for a turntable and it all but obliterates the end of the track. More so on the vinyl, I think they tamed it a bit on CD or is that just me?
If you can find a clean copy I highly recommend you snap it up. -
Hi everyone !
Everything in the description of this version corresponds with my disc.
However, only the matrix is different. on side 1 there is OP [ ] and on the 2 nd side [ ] AT.
do you have a suggestion?
Cheers! -
just picked up one
but even though the vinyl is really clean and mint their is surface noise almost like a fuzzy static - all the way through, the music sounds incredible but the noise is ruining it for me ... not sure if its the press or maybe needs a thorough clean ? -
Edited 3 years agoSimply stunning original Malcolm Davis cut and an absolute must have for your collection. It is a top 25 lp of all time, right?

-2 -1 copies in good shape are getting harder to find. The 1973 French export is made from this cut and sounds great too!

The best sounding pressing of this album in my opinion. Very full, loud sound with excellent detail.
